Solar cable sits outdoors for the design life of the plant, carrying DC at elevated temperature under continuous ultraviolet exposure. Ordinary building wire does not survive that duty.
The electron-beam cross-linked constructions used here are rated for 25 years of outdoor service, remain flexible at low temperature, and are halogen-free and flame-retardant.
