Building wire is the final-circuit layer of an electrical installation — the cable that runs in conduit and tray from the distribution board to the outlet, the luminaire and the machine.
The construction depends entirely on which code the building is wired to. North American projects specify THHN/THWN-2 and XHHW-2 to UL; projects on the British or IEC system specify to BS 6004 or IEC 60227. Both are supplied from the same plant.
